Jonathan Anderson delivered another standout moment with Dior’s Cruise show, presenting a collection filled with color, creativity, and playful energy while breathing new life into Dior’s iconic bags.

Jonathan Anderson shared that the collection was inspired by Dior’s longstanding connection to Hollywood, stating, “Dior’s rich history in Hollywood was a starting point for this collection, which came to life like a field of Californian poppies in late Spring.” The influence could be seen throughout the show in its vibrant colors, cinematic styling, and effortless glamour.
The show opens with a striking yellow drop-waist dress that immediately captures attention. The gown features a high-neck, pleated bodice that transitions into oversized yellow and white floral details wrapped around the dropped waist. Flowing layers of yellow and white fabric create movement throughout the skirt, adding a playful yet dramatic feel to the look. The dress also appeared in a deep purple shade, bringing a more elegant and sophisticated tone while still maintaining the collection’s fun and expressive energy.

Dior Cruise Collection
The collection used a lot of bright colors. The yellow dress that opened the show, along with an orange and blue look later in the collection, highlighted this vibrant palette. Jonathan Anderson definitely loves to play with florals. Throughout the collection, floral appliqués appeared on the hips of dresses, on coats and gowns almost like brooches, and on the shoulders of various looks as well.

There was movement in the clothing, and nothing felt stiff or uncomfortable. The pieces had a breathable, airy quality that carried through the entire collection. At the same time, Anderson kept Dior’s roots present through the tailoring, especially in the blazers. Several looks referenced the iconic Bar jacket silhouette from 1947, a call back to the collection in house history. Alongside that, there were more playful, textured interpretations that felt modern. One white blazer featured fringe-like detailing along the trim, starting from the neckline and lapel and running down the edges. Another blazer and skirt set in tweed frayed at the hem, creating a slightly distressed, deconstructed feel.

A few garments that stood out were the dresses and skirts. The drapery, color, and texture of the dresses felt elegant, while still carrying a youthful energy through the bright tones and floral appliqués. However, there were also moments where the silhouettes didn’t fully land. In particular, a few dresses felt slightly oversized on the models, with draping that almost came across like a bedsheet that had been pinned in certain places to make it wearable. The menswear, however, leaned into a more neutral color palette, with a few bright-colored long-sleeve dress shirts that also resembled button-up pajama shirts.
Accessories
The accessories were a major focal point of the collection. Scarves were the main character on some of the clothing with rich texture and strong use of color, while earrings ranged from long, dangling styles to mismatched pairs.

The bags and shoes also drew a lot of attention. The heels felt like ideal spring/summer styles for everyday wear, ranging from pointed-toe feather designs to lily pad-inspired floral heels, along with styles featuring bows and tweed-like detailing. Each pair offered something different, while still feeling playful and light. It was refreshing to see such a joyful approach to accessories throughout the collection.
Anderson is very creative when designing bags for Dior. Revisiting Dior’s heritage with the iconic newspaper print seen in past Saddle bag moments and dresses, he brought it back in a bow bag silhouette. There was also the Cadillac Saddle bag with a license plate detail on the back, adding a playful, Americana feel. One of the standout moments was the California poppy Lady Dior bag, with petal-like detailing and hidden stem elements woven throughout the design. There was also a beautiful Lady Dior in watersnake skin with crystal hardware, giving it a more elevated, textured finish. The minaudière bags shaped like a ladybug, snail, and mouse were especially whimsical and eye-catching. Another standout was a bow clutch covered in feathers on the front, creating a more dramatic yet delicate effect. Overall, there were so many exciting and playful bags that came down the runway.
