In the fast paced fashion industry, having someone to guide you or offer advice, especially for those just starting out, can make all the difference. A perfect example is Alejandra Trombetta, a senior marketing manager at Atlanta Apparel.
Alejandra is deeply passionate about sharing her knowledge and insights, particularly in the realm of corporate fashion. Her guidance can be invaluable for navigating the complexities of the industry. Alejandra’s expertise shines through her engaging content, where she shares insights from her role in corporate fashion, offering a glimpse into her lifestyle and styling tips. Beyond her daily work, she co-hosts “The Fashion Fix” podcast with her best friend, Sarah Kate. Together, they dive into all things fashion, with a special focus on the industry’s business aspects. Their lively discussions offer a fresh perspective on the latest trends and the innovative forces reshaping the fashion world.
Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Alejandra has called Atlanta, Georgia, home for the past 15 years. With a clear vision to pursue a career in fashion, she pursued a degree in marketing with a focus on international business. Although passionate about fashion, the path to her dream
career wasn’t immediately clear as she was unsure of how to begin her journey in the industry. Her journey began with an internship at a fashion office within an apparel trade show, where she discovered a love for the wholesale process and the origins of clothing items. Following her internship, Alejandra joined Spanx in their marketing department, contributing to e-commerce marketing campaigns and photoshoots. Eventually, she returned to the apparel trade show, where she began as an intern and has since risen to the position of senior marketing manager, now also leading an internship program.

The fashion industry, like any field, offers both rewards and challenges. For Alejandra, the ultimate reward is seeing her passion come to life. The positive feedback she receives from brands after working with them on apparel, shoes, and accessories is incredibly fulfilling. She also emphasizes the importance of a strong, collaborative team, finding joy in seeing colleagues thrive.
However, Alejandra stresses the need for humility in this industry. “The most important thing in the fashion industry is to be humble… You’re gonna have to wear a lot of different hats,” she explains. “One day you’re going to be next to a fashion director, and one day you’re going to be opening boxes, putting together furniture, and rolling racks in the middle of the street. You’re going to have to be okay with that duality.”
In an era where social media often glamorizes the fashion world, Alejandra’s words are a crucial reminder of the reality behind the scenes. It’s easy to lose sight of the true passion when faced with unrealistic expectations, making humility and a strong work ethic essential for long-term success.
n the creative realm of fashion, overflowing with ideas is common and exhilarating. However, a crucial skill is protecting your unique vision while collaborating with large corporations or brands. Staying true to yourself requires navigating the balance between creative integrity and external demands.
Alejandra emphasizes the importance of this balance. While it’s vital to have strong ideas and visions, she acknowledges that not every concept will resonate with everyone. “Always be true to yourself and your vision,” she advises, “but be flexible to scale back if you have to.” This adaptability is key to ensuring your voice remains authentic while meeting the practical needs of the industry.

Starting out, especially for younger generations, it can be challenging to find your voice and navigate criticism in such a visually driven industry. Alejandra advises not to take feedback personally, as rejection of ideas is common in the fashion world and beyond. She emphasizes the importance of learning to address criticism professionally. Asking for specific reasons why an idea wasn’t a good fit or didn’t work out can provide valuable insight and create better communication with colleagues. This approach not only helps you understand different perspectives but also strengthens your ability to articulate and defend your creative vision.
In the ever-evolving fashion industry, each day brings something new, whether it’s a fresh trend or developments within major fashion houses. Alejandra highlights her insights on the most significant industry shifts and trends of the past year. She comments on the growing importance of sustainability, noting that consumers are increasingly intentional with their purchases. This shift affects her role, as intentional consumer buying habits lead to more thoughtful choices from buyers and wholesalers alike. She also humorously comments on the adding “core” to fashion trends on social media, like ballet core, fishermen core, and office siren core. Additionally, she addresses the impact of creative directors moving between fashion houses and the timeline for high-fashion trends to trickle down to everyday consumers.
It can be tough to enter an industry when you’re not so familiar with how it operates. Alejandra shares some helpful insights and advice on trends
and experiences of her own to help others have a better understanding of how they should handle themselves or expect from the fashion industry.
